Classroom & Facilities

Exits and evacuation routes are clear and marked. Furniture is stable and free from sharp edges. Electrical outlets and equipment are safe and properly used. Playgrounds and sports areas are inspected regularly.

Student & Staff Safety

Supervision is adequate during breaks and activities. Emergency procedures are known and practiced. First aid kits are stocked and accessible. Bullying and safety concerns are addressed promptly.

General Operations

Walkways and stairs are kept clear and well lit. Chemicals and cleaning products are stored safely. Fire drills and emergency plans are up to date. Incidents and concerns are reported promptly.

Playground & Outdoor Areas

Inspect play equipment and surfacing before daily use. Repair or cordon off broken swings, climbers, or sharp edges. Supervise outdoor activities with appropriate staff ratios. Clear paths of trip hazards, glass, and standing water.

Emergency Preparedness

Run scheduled fire, lockdown, and evac drills each term. Post evacuation routes and assigned staff duties. Test alert and communication systems regularly. Keep updated emergency contact lists for every student.

Laboratory & Practical Rooms

Enforce PPE (goggles, aprons, gloves) in science and workshops. Store chemicals in locked, labelled cabinets by hazard. Provide eyewash and know spill-containment steps. Supervise practical sessions with trained instructors present.

Visitors & Access Control

Sign in all visitors and issue identifiable badges. Challenge or report unknown adults in pupil areas. Secure exits and perimeter outside school hours. Brief volunteers on safeguarding and supervision duties.

Wellbeing & Supervision

Maintain appropriate adult-to-child supervision ratios. Keep first-aid trained staff and kits in each block. Log and follow up on accidents and near-misses. Provide clear routes to report bullying or concerns.
